Prof. Kiera Kerluke –
Due to arthritis I can hardly sit at my desktop PC. This lets me use my laptop sitting in my recliner. Angle is right and protects from overheating.
Mina Watsica –
I read to my husband in bed at night and once he is asleep, I continue reading silenty until I begin to feel relaxed (or hopefully, sleepy). I have tried several things over the years but none worked as well as this one does. You see, I have arthritis in my hands so holding a book will cause them to hurt and go numb quickly. Since I can’t hold books for long, I need to read hands-free. I’ve tried reading with my book in my lap but it is too far away for me to read with or without glasses and it’s hard on my arthritic neck to bend my head down for so long. I’ve tried pillows but am always re-adjusting them to tilt the page just right so it avoids the glare of the light over my shoulder. Yes, I agree, I’m a mess! = )But this is what makes such a product as this so important for me and surely, I can’t be the only person with arthritis that reads in bed, right? Anyway, I still need to use a pillow underneath the Lap Top Desk to raise it closer to my realm of vision but once I get it situated, it stays! It doesn’t feel like it is going to slip off the pillow because its pillows aren’t slippery at all. (In fact, they kind of grip.) Even the top, which isn’t padded, doesn’t seem slippery like other things I’ve tried. To be honest, I only realized that while writing this review. Also, even though I use it on the highest tilt, it doesn’t feel like it will change positions on me before I’m ready. The lip at the bottom that the book rests on has so far been totally sufficient for any book I’ve held on it. I don’t feel it is flimsy and that was one of my concerns. I suppose it’s possible that a large/thick book on a high tilt might strain it but I have no way of knowing that for certain. I only know that I am totally happy with the quality of craftsmanship in this product and highly recommend it.If you are a person with similar needs, you might want to know about the only other product that I use to save my hands while reading. As you know, not all books will stay open without holding the pages to keep it from closing…sometimes just a few pages, sometimes the whole book. This product is called an Easy Book Clip and I’ve been using them for years to hold open my books for me. Usually, the clipped book will even stand on its own and this is also great for my neck, especially if I’m sitting at a table, reading. If you’re interested, use those words in an internet search or just remove the spaces and add a dot com at the end. They are not for sale on Amazon but I did find a similar product here that I don’t care for quite as much. It seems to be made for a larger book, perhaps, and requires you to grab a lot more pages to latch-on and the front and back “legs” are longer which makes it more work to turn pages. Anyway, it does accomplish the same goal if you can keep enough pages locked in it so it will hold the pages open without “hand-holding” the book. It’s called a Book Magic Book Clip and Stand.
Dr. Fidel Dietrich –
Four stars* because the left ‘leg’ warped in short order. The stand still functions well, but there should be no warping ever, let alone early on.*I give it 3.5 but that’s not possible, so 4 not 3.
Prof. Karolann Huels PhD –
On the recliner, I get tired of holding up my kindle and on my lap it’s too low. So this stand is perfect for that, has that little bar at the bottom to hold up my kindle. I like the handle and it’s light, so I plan to take it with me when we go camping. My ONLY peeve is that I could not figure out how to open it. There is no instructions on that. I had to get back on Amazon and look at one of the customer videos that shows how to press down on it and pull. It’s actually real easy once you know how.
Dr. Diego Eichmann PhD –
Perfect. Just what I needed. I teach a bible study class and this holds my bible or study guide at just the right angle for reading. It sits soft in you lap. Highly recommend.
Ansley Rice –
Great. Very pleased ! Just what I wanted to hold tablet and kindle
